Actor Jung Jun-won, who has been thrust into the spotlight with the recently concluded tvN drama Resident Playbook, was embroiled in dating rumors with model-turned-actress Kang Seung-hyun on May 27. Despite both sides quickly denying the rumors, stating they are “just close friends,” speculation about their past relationship and a possible recent reconciliation continues to spark curiosity.

The rumors originated from a post on an online community, where netizens pointed to social media photos posted by Jung Jun-won and Kang Seung-hyun, alleging “lovestagram” (couple-like Instagram posts). Claims centered on shared locations and similar props, suggesting couple items. This was also noted in OSEN’s reporting. It is said that Jung Jun-won and Kang Seung-hyun first met during the 2018 film Believer. Their connection did not end there; they reportedly formed a close circle of friends, traveling together and frequently meeting in private settings.

An industry insider told OSEN, “There’s been talk that Jung Jun-won and Kang Seung-hyun dated for seven years since Believer. They didn’t meet consistently, though, and reportedly broke up once before reconciling. The rumors likely resurfaced as Jung Jun-won gained fame recently.”

As the rumors spread, Jung Jun-won’s agency, Alien Company, promptly stated, “They became close friends while working on Believer,” denying the dating allegations. Kang Seung-hyun’s agency, Kang Entertainment, echoed this, saying, “The two actors are longtime friends.”

However, some industry voices suggest their relationship may be more than platonic. There are claims that “they started dating after Believer, broke up once, but recently grew close again,” fueling reconciliation rumors. Given their long acquaintance, opinions are divided on whether their relationship is romantic, keeping them at the center of attention.
